Five thousand Facebook followers for $50!

May 25, 2018

Sounds too good to be true, right? Um, right. It is too good to be true, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and the best things in life are free, etc.

In other words: please don’t buy your followers.

Yes, this is a thing, and yes, it’s common practice, but no, you shouldn’t jump on the bandwagon and buy followers too.

We totally understand how hard it is to build a following on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. On some platforms, you feel like for each follower you gain, you lose two. On Instagram, this is especially true. And then you take a look at your competitor’s accounts and – woah there nelly – they’ve somehow managed to clock up 2,000 followers seemingly overnight!

That’s because they HAVE clocked up 2,000 followers overnight, simply by transferring a few dollars to a shady Facebook likes farm. YES, this is another real thing, and NO, you shouldn’t be handing over your hard-earned dollars to them. What’s a likes farm? Quite simply, it’s many, many people (primarily in Asia) with many, many, MANY different social-media accounts, whose sole job is to like and follow Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

As tempting as it is to send your Facebook followers soaring overnight, it’s JUST NOT WORTH IT. Here’s why:

  • You’ll stuff up your analytics. At Hancock Creative, we spend a huge amount of time looking at our insights, in an attempt to understand our audience and target posts correctly. If you buy your followers, these insights become COMPLETELY pointless.
  • You’ll get no engagement with posts. Again, engagement is something we hold very, very dear at Hancock Creative. We don’t care how many followers you’ve got, so long as the ones you do have are engaging with your posts, and respond to your calls of action. Fake likers aren’t going to donate, volunteer or spread awareness of your organisation!
  • It’s really easy to spot a page that’s bought all its followers. Again, just have a look at their engagement. Five-thousand fans and only two likes per post? Ummm, smells a bit fishy!

So, how should you grow your page? Slow and steady wins the race, every time! Play the long game, plan some strategic (paid) page promotions, interact with like-minded pages, and create engaging content!

It’ll be worth the wait, we promise!
