The one marketing mistake I'll never make again šŸ™Š

Remember the days when posting on Facebook 7 times per day was the recommended strategy?

I sure do.

For months, Facebook Pages followed that gruelling schedule believing it was the key to unlocking engagement and growing our community.

The results? Well, let's just say they pretty quickly became underwhelming.

Too many of those brands kept going with that brutal schedule long after the algorithm had changed and started prioritising quality over quantity.

Why? Because sometimes it can be hard to stay up to date with the latest trends. Others were simply because they took no notice of their analytics and spiralling numbers.

I too have invested too much in a strategy that used to work and waited too long to make a change.

We all want that once-reliable tactic to continue to work its magic.

The truth is, social media is constantly evolving and the way our audiences using it changes too.

A few years ago, I was teaching clients how to engage with uni students on Snapchat.

Last Friday, I asked my uni students at Notre Dame how many of them still used Snapchat regularly and the answer was zero.

Why? They've all moved on to TikTok.

It's important you don't get stuck into the old way of doing things.

If your previously gold-plated strategy has stopped delivering, start experimenting with different posting times and frequencies, testing out various content formats, and exploring new platforms or opportunities.

I know when I take the time to dive deep into my strategy and mix it up, it always pays dividends!

If you fear you're in this trap, here is what I'd do about it.

Data is your friend: Don't rely on assumptions or outdated "rules." Track your analytics, listen to your audience, and let data guide your decisions.

Embrace change: The digital landscape is constantly evolving. Be willing to experiment with new platforms and strategies to stay ahead of the curve.

Focus on quality over quantity: It's better to post less frequently but create high-quality, engaging content that resonates with your audience.

I hope this story resonates with you and encourages you to take a fresh look at your own marketing tactics.

Remember, the most successful organisations are those that are willing to adapt, evolve, and never stop learning.
