New LinkedIn premium company pages - do you need one? ✅ ❌

Jul 22, 2024

I am often asked if you should pay for LinkedIn premium features.

My answers depend on who is asking, but I was intrigued to see LinkedIn now has a Premium Company Page feature.

So what do you need to know and do you need it?

I took out a month subscription, so I could explore some of the features it unlocks. Here is what I found.

Custom call-to-action buttons. You will be able to add a custom button to the top of your Page, your feed posts and search results.

Sadly, when I signed up for a trial I soon discovered the 'custom' is actually limited to:
- Learn More
- Register
- Visit Website
- Visit Portfolio
- Visit Store

While some of these are good - it would be better to have an option to download a lead magnet, direct to a specific product or even have 'donate' or 'volunteer'.

Auto-invite potential prospects. When people engage with your company pages' content or with similar pages, LinkedIn will auto invite them to follow your page.

This one gets a green tick from me, LinkedIn Pages can be hard to grow. This will definitely give your numbers a solid boost.

New testimonials feature. Companies will get a new section at the top right of their Page where they can add recent awards won, press mentions and client testimonials.

This is a nice to have, but I am not sure it is valuable enough to justify the Premium price tag.

AI-powered content. The writing assistant can be super-charged to help you draft posts.

When there are a plethora of free AI tools out there already we can use for the same purpose, I am not sure this justifies the price tag.

Advertising credits. Eligible Pages also get $500 ad credits on LinkedIn. There are no details yet as to whether this is a one off or not, but I suspect it is.

You can also get free 3-month access to:
- Dropbox
- Microsoft 365
- Go Daddy
- Hootsuite

While they are good potential incentives, after 3 months you'll pay for these on TOP of your LinkedIn premium fee.

Enhanced profile visibility. While details are scarce, the Premium Pages will get higher discoverability - meaning Premium profiles will receive 'exclusive placements'.

Again information is thin, but it suggests you'll show up more in searchers and higher in rankings. If you're in a competitive sector (like aged care or NDIS services), this could be valuable for your LinkedIn growth.

Unlimited search. You can find and reach potential business leads with unlimited messages on connection requests and use InMail to reach new prospects.

If you are prospecting on LinkedIn, this is valuable. It is also works well with the LinkedIn connection strategy I teach inside The Training Vault.  But if you're not, it doesn't have a lot of value to you.

LinkedIn Learning access. Access to more than 22,000 LinkedIn Learning courses and professional certificates.

See more info on who's viewed your Page. Get more details about people who have viewed your Page, plus you get the option to browse other people's profiles anonymously.

Gold IN logo. You will receive a special gold badge on the top of your page to 'increase credibility'.

I am not sure this will make much of a difference to your average prospect!

At the price of more than $150 per month... my conclusion - give it a miss.

Unless you're bringing in consistent revenue (or other significant benefit) directly from LinkedIn, I don't think the upgrade will be worth the cost.
