Birthday DAY or month?? (with a little marketing lesson...)
Oct 14, 2024When it comes to your birthday - are you a one and done type or a 'it's my birthday month!' kind of celebrator?
It was my birthday last week and it was probably my first time making the day stretch out all week... and to my surprise it was kinda nice.
Normally, I am not someone who loves to make a big birthday fuss. I am definitely a keep it under the radar, gal. But hey, different strokes for different folks, right? Just like in the world of marketing!
Think about it: some nonprofits are all about that constant drumbeat of social media posts, every single day. Others focus more energy into a big campaign or event once a month.
And guess what? Both approaches can totally work!
The real magic happens when you find what feels right for YOUR organisation, YOUR team, and YOUR audience.
Maybe you're a "birthday month" kind of nonprofit, with a steady stream of content keeping your audience engaged. Or perhaps you're more of a "birthday day" type, making a big splash with a targeted campaign.
The important thing is to be intentional and strategic about your approach.
Too many organisations follow the school of - throw spaghetti at the wall and hope enough sticks. I am here to tell you - that is one 'strategy' that never works!
So, as I blow out the (many, many) candles on my birthday cupcake, I encourage you to reflect on your own marketing strategy.
- Are you spreading your efforts too thin?
- Or are you missing opportunities to really connect with your audience?
Just like a birthday – whether it's a day or a month-long affair – your marketing should be a celebration of your organisation's unique story and impact.
And if you're feeling a bit stuck or unsure where to start, remember that I'm here to help you find your marketing mojo.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy another slice of cake. š
Happy Tuesday (or birthday year!),
Alecia
