Mastering Instagram: 5 Crucial Insights for 2023 Success
May 29, 2023If you're using Instagram for a nonprofit in 2023 there are 5 critical things you really need to understand.
- That if you don't log in to your business account and interact with other users on a regular basis - your post reach will decrease. Don't post and ghost. Log in to your account regularly and engage with other content, send messages and be an active Instagram user
- Hashtags are critical to being found by new people and increasing your audience. You should have a mix of trending tags, post-related tags and your own created tags. Did you know you can have up to 30 on each post?
- The difference between newsfeed posts, Stories and Reels and how they all have their own separate algorithms (and audiences). You need to make sure you're using the right ones for the audience you hope to reach.
- Instagram's algorithm and how it works. Check out my recent blog post for a longer break down on how it works and what is new this year.
- How to have multiple links in your bio AND drive your Instagram followers to actually click on them. You want to be clear on your audiences and have multiple links that serve them. It could be to a recent article, a newsletter sign up, a freebie they can download, a donation page ... it all depends on what you're marketing right now.
There is a lot more to Instagram in 2023 than posting the occasional pretty picture. Like any platform, it's about making sure for the time, effort and budget you put into it - you're getting a measurable result for your organisation.
Just in the past few weeks I've had two new big consulting enquiries through my own Instagram account!
If you're not sure how to use it effectively, or you have questions about the algorithm, hashtags or how to optimise your account check out my live June masterclass "How to Use Instagram for NonProfits & Impact Businesses." For just $50 you'll get all my insider tips and get to ask me all your IG questions.
If you can't join my live - don't worry. All classes are added to your online Learning Hub and you can watch it at a time that suits you.
Happy 'gramming,
Alecia
